Now serving hot food 3 days a week

We’re excited to announce that we are now serving hot food at the Freedom Centre between 12 noon and 1 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on a first-come, first-served basis. Takeaway is also available at these times.

When you come to the Centre, you will see that we have systems and processes in place to keep everyone safe. We will continue to monitor these measures and amend the service as necessary.

Support, advice, donations

The Day Centre is now open Monday to Thursday from 9.30am – 1.30pm.
Reception is open Monday to Thursday from 9am – 3.30pm.

We remain closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless and require emergency support, please call your local authority before attending the Day Centre:
North Devon Council (Lynton House) 01271 327711.
Torridge District Council 01237 428700.

Despite Covid-19, we are still working alongside North Devon Council and other agencies to provide essential support to homeless and vulnerable people at this time.

A note from Phil Noall, our Chief Exec:

Tuesday, 31 March 2020

I would like to give you a brief update about our work at this very difficult time. As you would have read on previous posts, and as expected, the Day Centre is now closed until further notice. However, we continue to help and support many vulnerable people in our community.

Outreach services to Rough Sleepers are essential but sadly local resources have been hit really badly because of the coronavirus pandemic. Many of the Enhanced Outreach Team have been called back to their core services leaving only a few to continue providing this essential service.

In response, we have been able to reconfigure our staff team and in partnership with North Devon Council we are making sure that 2 outreach teams are going out onto the streets of North Devon each day.

Staff start the day preparing packed lunches at the Freedom Centre and these are taken out to people on the streets by the outreach teams. Following outreach which usually last a few hours staff are then checking in on the 43 vulnerable residents we have across town in our supported housing projects.

Although the Day Centre is closed our work supporting highly vulnerable people continues. These are clearly very difficult times and we are doing everything we can to ensure that staff, residents and clients are kept safe.

We will take this one day at a time. Please check this website and our Facebook page regularly for updates.

Thank you for your support.
